VideoConferencing(VC) at NSCL is done via one of two setups. One in the East and one in the West conference room. Alternately one can use a desktop system. There is a system dedicated to the MONA research group in the data U area for their users. All VC at NSCL goes through the firewall. The firewall is configured to only allow VC to our MCU(35.8.8.26) commonly referred to as the CODIAN. To use the CODIAN one uses the appropriate desktop software or one of the two available systems and enters "35.8.8.26" for the location and follows the verbal instructions.

TO MAKE POINT TO POINT CONFERENCES:

1) Connect to the CODIAN and create an AdHoc session.

2) Supply your other party with the session number and optional password.

3) Have your other party contact the CODIAN and join that session.

TO MAKE A MULTI-PARTY SESSION:

1) Connect to the CODIAN and create a AdHoc session or ask the administrator create a permanent session for you.

2) Supply your other parties with the session number and optional password.

3) Have your other parties contact the CODIAN and join that session.

One can avoid knowing the session numbers and select the session by using in the "Remote Camera" mode the arrow keys. The Right arrow acts as an "enter".
